Frogmore Plantation (across the Mississippi from Natchez)

The steam powed gin mill at Frogmore

John and I visited a working cotton plantation, circa 1850.  The site includes an originalsteam powered gin mill, circa 1890, and all the buildings found on a typical plantation… smoke house, slave quarters (later share cropper houses), church, etc.  It was really interesting.  For all of you PBS and “Victoria” fans, Frogmore was named after Frogmore House, a Royal retreat at Windsor, England.   It is the burial site the burial site of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.
