Catherine and I, and Sam and Andy, Catherine’s little lambs are spending April at the Amethyst Inn and Cottages B&B in Adamstown, PA. Adamstown is situated half way between Lancaster and Reading, Pennsylvania, made famous by the Reading Railroad of Monopoly fame.
Adamstown, not much bigger than a wide spot on the road, bills itself as the Antique Capital of the U. S. We had done our homework on the inn before we arrived, but wedid not look into the area, other than it is in Pennsylvania Dutch, Lancaster County. We started noticing very large antique shops as we neared Adamstown. The fact is that a seven mile stretch of Route 272 is home to dozens of shops, outdoor markets and thousands of dealers. They host three “Antique Extravaganza Weekends” each year, including one at the end of April.
